Imbruglia Joins G8 Activists
Australian singer NATALIE IMBRUGLIA felt compelled to join activists at the G8 summit in Scotland after an emotional trip to poverty-stricken Africa.
The TORN singer visited Nigeria and Ethiopia and witnessed the horrific effects of medical condition fistula - obstructed labour during childbirth - which affects millions of women in the developing world.
Imbruglia, who arrived in Edinburgh yesterday (04JUL05) two days before G8 leaders begin talks at the Gleneagles hotel near Edinburgh, says, "It's a horrendous problem which could be solved properly with proper medical care. But over there they can't go to a hospital.
"These women are in a hut by themselves in labour for up to four days. It must be terrifying."05/07/2005 05:20
