Howard Refuses To Adopt Cynical Approach
Oscar-winning director Ron Howard has vowed to continue making up-beat movies despite critics complaining his work lacks intensity.
The film maker considers the cheerful tone of past projects including APOLLO 13 and A Beautiful Mind to be as relevant as dark, evil themes and is convinced good movies should make people happy.
Howard says, "Look, the critical community tends to see tragedies and cautionary tales as intrinsically more valuable.
"I have no problem going out there and acknowledging the bright side and being optimistic.
"I don't understand why cynics think an affirmative story is less important than a negative one."
