Hosts And Stars Team Up To Poke Fun At Presenting The Oscars
Billy Crystal, Mel Gibson, Steve Martin, Chris Rock, Halle Berry and George Clooney teamed up to start last night's (05MAR06) Oscars telecast on a hilarious note - with a skit about hosting the Academy Awards.
Past presenters Crystal and Rock kicked off the ceremony by poking fun at gay cowboy film Brokeback Mountain in a taped skit, turning down the chance to host the awards from a tent.
Fellow former hosts Martin, Whoopi Goldberg and David Letterman all said no to the chance to return to Hollywood's biggest stage and then Gibson refused to accept the job in ancient Mayan - with the cast of his upcoming historical epic APOCALYPTO.
Berry and Clooney ended the skit by appearing in bed with this year's host Jon Stewart as the funnyman tried to figure out if he was dreaming or not.
