Bob Hoskins - Hoskins: 'I'll Never Be A Sir'

British actor BOB HOSKINS has vowed to refuse a knighthood if he is ever offered one, because he couldn't bear to be called "Sir".

The MERMAIDS actor would feel a hypocrite if he accepted the honour, because it goes against everything he has ever stood for.

He explains, "Sir Bob Hoskins. F**k that. Everybody I've ever met who's made my life a misery was called Sir. And the ones who insisted I call them Sir were the worst of all.

"No, I don't want to be one of them. No, thank you very much. Why accept a tribute from a society I have nothing in common with?

"And they lumber you with this kind of Sir on top of you, completely alienating you from your own life. I could imagine me walking into a newspaper shop and the fellow calling me, 'Hello Sir Bob'. My a***."
