Hollywood Memorabilia Goes Under The Hammer
Film fans still in need of ideas for Christmas gifts are being given the chance to spend their cash on a range of Hollywood memorabilia in an upcoming auction.
Starting Friday (12DEC03), items like DARTH VADER's black helmet, mask and shoulder armour from 1980's STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, will be made available by Hollywood memorabilia auctioneer PROFILES IN HISTORY.
JOSEPH MADDALENA, chief executive of the Los Angeles-based auction house estimates it could fetch $40,000 (GBP23,529) to $60,000 (GBP35,294), but given that it comes with an accompanying authentication letter from Star Wars creator GEORGE LUCAS, the price could go higher.
He says, "I'm hoping it brings $150,000-plus."
Also on sale is the ARMANI tuxedo ROBERT DE NIRO wore in 1987 film THE UNTOUCHABLES playing gangster AL CAPONE. It is estimated to bring $2,000 (GBP1,176) to $3,000 (GBP1,764). Or, there is AL PACINO's jacket from THE GODFATHER: PART II for $7,000 (GBP4,117) to $9,000 (GBP5,294).10/12/2003 09:07
