Hollywood Heroines Blamed For Female Violence

Hollywood heroines including ANGELINA JOILE's LARA CROFT in TOMB RAIDER and UMA THURMAN's BRIDE in KILL BILL have been blamed for the sharp rise in physical violence involving teenage girls.

The influence of these movie "sheroes" is believed to be one of the causes of the alarming rise in girl-on-girl physical intimidation.

In recent weeks there have been a spate of incidents across America involving young women - a 17-year-old girl slashed another's face with a bottle and three girls mugged a boy for his iPOD mp3 player.

NO LONGER NICE author HOWARD SPIVAK says, "These Hollywood heroines give them tacit permission to alter their behaviour. They no longer repress their anger but strike out first.

"The number of boys being charged with violent offences has been stabilised as we learnt to use discipline and drugs, but authorities have blankly refused to recognise that girls are catching up fast, and could be more violent than boys within a generation."

BEATRIX KIDDO 2005

I don't think the said hollywood heroines should be blame for female violence happening in our times even the film coz it's no relation with the viewers response to it,even the influence they think it caused to them, indeed it's the parents of those female teens should watch their children first while watching the movie especially if it's rated PG.Besides UMA THURMAN is also a mother. So that is a non-based critique. Our world,in our times is already polluted. So whose to blame?Actually the film inspires me being a woman, where we're the one being abused, weaker.I think it's Girl power!
