'Heroin Addict' Actor Told To Attend Rehab
LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS star JAKE ABRAHAMS was yesterday (04APR06) ordered to attend a drugs rehabilitation centre following a "spectacular fall from grace". The 39-year-old, who played criminal DEAN in director GUY RITCHIE's 1998 movie, admitted a series of petty crimes including taking a friend's car without permission and shoplifting at a hearing in Liverpool, England. The court was told that Abrahams was stopped by store detectives carrying a bag lined with tin foil, a common trick used by shoplifters to beat shop security alarms. Abrahams' lawyer KEN HECKLE said his client's offending began after he became addicted to hard drugs three years ago (03). He told the court, "The foil-lined bag is a classic drug addict's offence. My client was in films, very famous films, yet a few weeks ago he was on our streets armed with a foil-lined bag. "You can't get a much more spectacular fall from grace than that." Abrahams is due back in court on 25 April (06) for sentencing.
