Actress Patricia Heaton is rediscovering her true self now work on hit US TV sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond has come to an end.

The 46-year-old, who starred as Ray Romano's onscreen wife for nine years, is abandoning her gruelling grooming regime in favour of allowing her body hair to grow.

She says, "I have a few exciting things lined up. I am either going to permanently remove all my unwanted hair or let it grow out and see what I actually look like. Those are my choices.

"I feel like for the nine-years (I've been on the show) I have been waxed and dyed and scraped and altered and I just thought, 'I don't know who's sitting here anymore.'"
