Hairspray Ties Drama Desk Nominations

Hit musical Hairspray has picked up a record-tying 14 nominations for the
upcoming DRAMA DESK AWARDS.

The hit show, based on John Waters' 1988 movie of the same name, claimed a
nominations haul matched over the years only by The Producers, THE SECRET
GARDEN and Ragtime.

The Drama Desk Awards are often a strong predictor for Broadway's TONY
AWARDS. The winners will be announced on 18 May (03).
