Green Day Triumph At Mtv Vmas

Rockers Green Day were the big winners at last night's (28AUG05) MTV Video Music Awards in Miami, Florida, picking up seven awards including Best Video Of The Year for BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS.

The trio's hit song also won Best Group Video, Best Rock Video, Best Direction In A Video, Best Editing In A Video and Best Cinematography In A Video, while their AMERICAN IDIOT track was awarded the Viewer's Choice prize.

Singer Billie Joe Armstrong told the audience at the American Airlines Arena, "It's great to know rock music still has a place on MTV."

Elsewhere, Kelly Clarkson's SINCE U BEEN GONE won Best Female Video and Best Pop Video, while MISSY ELLIOTT FT CIARA + FAT MAN SCOOP's LOSE CONTROL was named both Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Dance Video.

Kanye West's JESUS WALKS picked up Best Male Video, while Gorillaz's Feel Good Inc won Breakthrough Video and Best Special Effects In A Video.

The ceremony was hosted by SEAN 'DIDDY' COMBS.

Best Group Video - GREEN DAY, BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS

Best Rap Video - Ludacris, NUMBER ONE SPOT

Best R+B Video - Alicia Keys, KARMA

Best Hip-Hop Video - MISSY ELLIOTT FT CIARA + FAT MAN SCOOP, LOSE CONTROL

Best Dance Video - MISSY ELLIOTT FT CIARA + FAT MAN SCOOP, LOSE CONTROL

Best Rock Video - GREEN DAY, BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS

Best Pop Video - KELLY CLARKSON, SINCE U BEEN GONE

Best Soundtrack From A Video Game - DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION EXTREME
