Grant Owes Wah-Wah To Argos
Richard E Grant hated starring in a series of embarrassing TV adverts for UK store Argos - but endured the ridicule to finance his semi-autobiographical movie WAH-WAH.
The WITHNAIL + I actor, who sports a rock-star wig and skin tight trousers in the unflattering commercials, happily sacrificed his acting credibility because writing and directing Wah-Wah is his proudest achievement.
He explains, "A certain advertising campaign saw me through a particularly lean period.
"I couldn't act for three years so I had to get money from somewhere."
