Gospel Star Burger Dies During Cruise Gig
Revered gospel star ANTHONY BURGER collapsed and died during a performance in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday (22FEB06). He was 44.
The Dove Awards-nominated pianist was performing on a cruise.
An autopsy is yet to be performed, but those close to Burger have been told the cause of death was most likely a heart attack.
Burger's album A TRIBUTE TO BILL + GLORIA GAITHER has been nominated for the Gospel Music Association's Best Instrumental Album Dove Award.
Burger was a former member of the CELESTIALS and gospel quartet THE KINGSMEN.

| It is 3am in the morning and I have just been watching one of the Gaither DVD's where Bill Gaither is paying tribute to various artists who have passed on. I was very shocked to hear of the sudden death of Anthony Burger, so much so, that I had to get on the internet to find out what happened to him - I can't believe it, but I give God thanks for his life and the way he blessed me and many others with the talent the Lord blessed him with. It won't be the same without him, but I trust that he is playing beautiful music around the throne of God where the angels are crying 'Holy' 'Holy' 'Holy'. My sympathy goes out to the Burger family and the Gaither Homecoming family and if you are reading this, then just remember that Anthony has only gone on before us and one day we hope to meet again - God said, I believe it and it's so. | ||
