Gorillaz Spark Uk Chart Row

Animated hitmakers GORILLAZ have sparked another new-look UK singles chart row, because their single FEEL GOOD INC has only been given a limited release in music shops while it is widely available online.

The British singles chart changed it's format to include downloads earlier this month (APR05) - and bosses at UK retailer HMV fear artists are manipulating the new rules which stipulate a single must be available in shops before its online sales can be considered for inclusion.

The ground-breaking group, which counts BLUR singer DAMON ALBARN and acclaimed hip-hop producer DAN THE AUTOMATOR amongst its members, have only released Feel Good Inc in shops as a limited edition seven inch vinyl single while it is readily available digitally.

HMV spokesperson GENNARO CASTALDO says, "Why should people who don't have access to digital music not then have the right to buy that Gorillaz track?

"As a retailer, we have to be sensitive to our customers needs. Record companies should be as well… they need to be fair and to make the music available in every format."

COLDPLAY's comeback single SPEED OF SOUND is currently topping international download charts but it is not eligible for inclusion in the UK singles chart because it has yet to be released in shops.
