American civil war epic Gone With The Wind is the most popular film ever in British cinema history.
The BRITISH FILM INSTITUTE (BFI) named the adaptation of MARGARET MITCHELL's novel the biggest movie theatre hit, followed closely by another ACADEMY AWARD winner The Sound Of Music and Walt Disney's first full-length animation SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS.
The top ten is dominated by older films from the 1940s until the 1970s, with the most recent being 1998 disaster movie Titanic at number eight.
