Gilmour Plans To Visit Barrett

Former PINK FLOYD frontman DAVID GILMOUR is keen to visit estranged band member SYD BARRETT for the first time in 30 years. Barrett was fired from the band in 1968 after his struggle with drug abuse left him riddled with psychological problems. None of his former bandmates have seen him for decades, but Gilmour has been in touch with Barrett's sister ROSEMARY and is considering visiting the singer at his Cambridge, England home, where he lives the life of a recluse. Gilmour says, "I'm tempted to see him. I miss him - or my fantasy if what Syd used to be. "I don't think Rose recommends a visit overall, but she hasn't said, 'You really shouldn't.'"

Where does contactnews.com get their information. Since when is Gilmour the "Former PINK FLOYD frontman?"PINK FLOYD still does exist! I am sure that Gilmour has said he will not do Floyd again because he is about to release his new album "On An Island" in the next couple of days, which he is also supporting with a small tour. Floyd can not exit without a final tour!

Um, Floyd are finished. I honestly don't think any logical long-time fan would expect them to reform. Live8 was a swansong, and thank god it was their last performance instead of that horrid PULSE.

Barrett having a visit from Gilmour? well- i don't know how this info came about-or if it is very recent... but if it's true -it's possibly a very, very good thing...although it has been said Barrett wasn't into this type of thing... perhaps if David shows up it will open up a new line of communication...i can hardly imagine if they are face to face it wouldn't melt away some years of any awkwardness... and that Barrett would be courteous-and feel glad anyway... I have always hoped this would happen-for both of their sakes... Out of all the Floyds... THESE are the two who need to sit and speak with one another... as old friends FINALLY should... you go for it David! Right on! and Roger...now you'll know just how much you are remembered...and loved...and Dave is the one to tell you all ....wishing both of you the very best....long long overdue...
