Gibson's Passion Wins Emma Awards
MEL GIBSON's biblical epic THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST was last night (24MAY04) named Best Film at the 2004 ETHNIC MULTICULTURAL MEDIA AWARDS (EMMAs).
The controversial movie, about the final hours of JESUS CHRIST's life, took home the top prize at the ceremony at London's GROSVENOR HOTEL.
Romanian actress MAIA MORGENSTERN won the Best Film Actress award for her portrayal of MARY, mother of Jesus in the movie.
Late kung-fu legend BRUCE LEE was honoured with the lifetime achievement award, which was accepted on his behalf by his daughter SHANNON LEE.
Elsewhere, TOM CRUISE was named Best Film Actor for his role in THE LAST SAMURAI, and hip-hop collective the BLACK-EYED PEAS won the Best International Music category.
BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM and ER star PARMINDER NAGRA picked up Best TV Actress for the drama series SECOND GENERATION.25/05/2004 21:13
