Gibson's Alleged Stalker Ordered To Stand Trial
LATEST: The man accused of stalking Mel Gibson has been ordered to stand trial.
Los Angeles Superior Court judge LELAND HARRIS ruled yesterday (02DEC04) that there was enough evidence to try 34-year-old drifter ZACK SINCLAIR on a felony count of stalking.
The defendant remains jailed on $500,000 (GBP263,157) bail pending a 16 December (04) arraignment.
Sinclair was arrested in September (04) for stalking the actor-director. He allegedly wrote letters to Gibson about his controversial movie The Passion OF THE CHRIST and showed up at the movie star's home and demanded to speak with him.
In a court filing, Gibson said the man also interrupted his worship on 19 September (04) at a chapel and "demanded that I pray with him" before the film-maker's bodyguard escorted him out.
The case continues.03/12/2004 03:07
