Gibson To Tell Holocaust Story
MEL GIBSON is returning to weighty subject matter as he develops a new TV movie set against the backdrop of the Holocaust.
The actor/director is the brains behind a new project for US TV network ABC, which will tell the true story of Dutch Jew FLORY VAN BEEK and her non-Jewish boyfriend, who sheltered her from the Nazis.
The project should calm Gibson's Jewish critics, who claim his 2004 religious epic THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST was anti-Semitic.
The film is based on the best-selling memoir FLORY: SURVIVAL IN THE VALLEY OF DEATH, which was written by Van Beek and her husband.
