German Film Takes Top Prize At Shanghai Festival
German drama VIER MINUTEN (FOUR MINUTES) has won Best Film at the Shanghai Film Festival. The movie, directed by CHRIS KRAUS, focuses on a musical genius who turns into a killer and was praised by the festival jury as "a difficult and emotional story" with "excellent performances from the lead actors and interesting secondary characters". Elsewhere, Chinese film THE FOREST RANGER took the jury's Grand Prize and French director FABIENNE GODET won Best Director for BURNT OUT. Burnt Out's star OLIVIER GOURMET won the Best Actor award, while Best Actress went to ELS DOTTERMANS for her role in Belgian production LOVE BELONGS TO EVERYONE. The festival was staged in Shanghai for the ninth time since it began in 1993.
