Gay Group Endorses Brokeback Mountain

America's leading gay and lesbian organisation has given ANG LEE's controversial new movie BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN a boost by calling the movie "the most poignant love story".

Officials at the Gay + Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) are endorsing the film, which features love scenes between straight actors JAKE GYLLENHAAL and HEATH LEDGER, who play gay cowboys.

And they go so far as the hail the release of the film later this month (DEC05) as "a historic moment in film history".

GLAAD president NEIL GIULIANO says, "This film has tremendous potential to connect with audiences gay and straight alike. People will relate to these characters and to the emotional authenticity of their story.

"What Brokeback Mountain does is allow audiences to experience, on an intensely emotional level, how ignorance and intolerance can force people to deny their love and deny who they are."

GLAAD bosses are providing a resource kit for critics featuring information on real-life gay cowboys and the rural gay experience.

	reply to leftistdestroyer You wouldnt last 5 minutes in Newcastle, Tyne & Wear, England. England has learnt tolerance, in general anyway. In fact in many areas i know of gays are the preferred friends of everyone. There is something wrong if you can find plenty of gay clubs and no straight ones. Here in Newcastle there are a dozen gay clubs and bars and the same straight, just the gay ones are concentrated on one street while the straight ones are spread out a bit more. As for the aids situation, I am worried that your terrible piece on it will lead others to the erroneous conclusion that gay people with HIV are wantonly passing on the virus. The vast majority of gays knowingly living with HIV use every measure possible to avoid passing the virus on. HIV prevention experts agree that those most likely to pass on the virus are people recently infected who don't know they have it. I have access to the UK HIV records, and there is no evidence that the number of new cases among gay men in the UK has gone up. Diagnoses have but that's good news, it means more are realising the seriousness of the disease and so can prevent the spread of it and can recieve medication. And most people 'barebacking' goes on between people with the same HIV status, and is arguably a public health benefit, not a risk. Reality of life with HIV presents challenges enough without ignorant souls raising false spectres that can only deflect attention from the real issue and damage the efforts of those striving to put an end to the epidemic. And as for it being because of our other sexual habits, get real. More and more straights are becoming 'slappers' now, while the same thing in percentage decreases in gays. It's becoming more acceptable for gays to be gay nd so a higher percentage (which keeps rising) are settling down into a meaningful relationship. The two groups are merging closer together. And may I point out about the 'don't try the you must be gay too routine' thing you said, no not necessarily but you are clearly uncertain of your sexuality. It is a proven fact that homophobes are merely afraid that they may hav feelings for someone of the same sex, a scientific study was performed and the results conclusive so why not just relax, it'll mean less conflict. Search deep down and find out the truth. You may or may not be gay. I don't know, but I pity you because neither do you.

If Christians were not suppose to quote the scriptures to society, then the gospel would have never made it out of Jerusalem on the day of Pentacost. If you remember, the early disciples made the world around them enraged with anger because they testified about things that upset people. They did not hide in a closet in the name of prayer while the world around them was lost in sin. They prayed for boldness to speak the truth about sin, repentance, and the saving grace of Jesus Christ's blood atonement on the cross. Worldly Christains are lukewarm and measure their stature by how much they fit into the world. This is the deceptions Jesus warned us about. It is the silent saints waiting for the rapture that is killing our society that needs to HEAR the TRUTH. Eastexas

	i am so emabarrassed to be reading these post by socalled Christians. I myself am a devout Christian and i can not believe how these Christians are bashing and judging. if you really loved and worshiped God and tryed to be like him, you would be taking the matter to prayer and asking the Lord to heal our land. Satan is the ruler of the earth. This is all signs of the last days. You should be rejoicing that the Lord is coming back soon. Rejoice for your redemption draws nigh. to those who are Christian look up the verse judge not lest ye be judged remember that God will judge you in the same manner that you judge others. i am not accepting or condoning the homosexual lifestyle because it is a sin but let God do the judging and let your lifestyle reflect who Christ really is. He says come unto me all ye who are weary and heavy laden and i will give you rest. God wants all people to come to him and let him change and transform them, however many people are decieved like they said would happen in the last days. I am taking this matter to prayer, that God will give me a heart of compassion, so that we people need Prayer or a tender word of scripture, Gay or straight, hindu or buddist, islam or morman, i can hope that my life truly reflects how Jesus lived on the earth and do my best to help them however the Lord wants me too.. Shame to you who go to church and speak the way you do. we are called to hate the sin, and love the persons soul. that is what it is all about, their soul. God wishes that no man should persish but that all should come to repentence. Let God be the judge, he is the eyes and ears of the world .. nothing goes unnoticed good or bad.
