Gandolfini Stands By His Man

JAMES GANDOLFINI is refusing to dump his agent - despite the farce created by his cash negotiations with THE SOPRANOS producers.

The actor insists he's still indebted to DAVID BROWNSTEIN, even though many industry insiders feel the agent's personal feelings about HBO boss CHRIS ALBRECHT are at the centre of the cash dispute.

Even Gandolfini - who backed down in his legal battle with the American cable network, after demanding a bigger pay deal for his role in the mob show - admits the whole mess has been embarrassing.

He says, "I want to go back, and I'm sorry for all this nonsense.

"I just want to say I'm re-signing with David Brownstein. He's a good agent and we've been through a lot together."
