Furtado Pens Song Soccer Championship

Canadian singer Nelly Furtado will return to her Portuguese roots this summer (04), when she performs the official song for the EURO 2004 soccer championship in Lisbon.

Furtado wrote the song, FORCA - meaning "strength" or "let's do it" in Portuguese - herself, and will perform it on the pitch before the tournament final on 4 July.

The 26-year-old beauty says, "It's about love of the game, love of life, love of sport."

Euro 2004 officials say the song, in English, will be released as a single. Furtado also plans to produce a version in Portuguese.
