Friends Of The Earth Disgusted By Ticket Touts

Environmental campaigners Friends Of The Earth are appalled ticket touts are trying to profit by selling tickets for their The Big Ask Live concert at hugely inflated sums. Within minutes of going on sale on Saturday (11MAR06), the GBP55 ($94) tickets were being sold on the internet for more than GBP300 ($500). A spokesman for the show, which will take place at London venue Koko on 1 May (06), says, "We have done everything within our power to ensure that fans had access to the tickets at the price fixed by Friends Of The Earth - for example by limiting purchases to two tickets per person. "It is extremely disappointing to find that some people are selling on tickets for personal gain - particularly as this is a charity event which has been organised to raise money and support for Friends Of The Earths' climate campaign, The Big Ask." The concert will include performances by RADIOHEAD frontman THOM YORKE, SUPER FURRY ANIMALS' GRUFF RHYS and KATE RUSBY. Yorke explains his incentive for supporting the campaign, saying, "It's good to get involved with something that's positive and constructive, rather then falling into the trap of thinking there is nothing you can do about climate change".
