Franz Ferdinand Frontman Was A Late Bloomer

Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos was a late bloomer - he was 18 when he kissed a girl for the first time.

Kapranos, who is currently dating Eleanor Friedberger from eccentric US duo The Fiery Furnaces, was convinced that he was too strange-looking for ladies to take any interest in him.

But he has since turned his quirky appearance to his advantage.

He says, "I was a freak, I was so skinny and underdeveloped compared with everyone else.

"I remember thinking, 'I'm going to be miserable for the rest of my life.' Then I thought, 'F*** it, I can do anything I want.'"
