Franklin Told To Clean Up Mess From Fire
Legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin has ten days to clean up her fire
damaged home - after an investigation into the cause of a blaze at her
California mansion failed to bring any charges.
Investigators earlier this year (03) ruled the 25 October (02) fire at the
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP mansion in Oakland was arson.
The RESPECT star, who was in Texas at the time of the fire, has ten days
to clean up the site and 30 days to inform the township of her plans to either
renovate or demolish the house.
KAYE CHARTIER, Bloomfield Township's code and ordinance director, says,
"The investigation is complete, and now it is time to clean up the property. If
she doesn't cooperate, the township can take legal action."
After months of declining to speak to investigators, 61-year-old Franklin
met with Oakland County prosecutors in February (03) after an investigative
subpoena was issued.
Oakland County Prosecutor DAVID GORCYCA announced he will meet with
Bloomfield Township police to discuss possible charges in the case.
