Foxy Pleads Not Guilty To Beauty Shop Scuffle
LATEST: Rapper FOXY BROWN has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanour assault and attempted assault charges after allegedly fighting with beauticians after a manicure went bad.
Brown, real name INGA MARCHAND, appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court, New York, on Monday (11APR05) to fight the allegations levelled against her by staff at Bloomie Nails.
The raunchy rapper reportedly became angry during a visit to the salon last summer (AUG05) when staff attempted to stop her from leaving the premises without paying for a pedicure.
Brown maintains salon staff were demanding payment for a manicure and pedicure, and when she would not pay for both, she was detained.
According to prosecutors, she kicked and hit a manager and hurled a cellphone at one of the workers.
Her lawyer, JOSEPH TACOPINA, explained that a police officer let Foxy go after responding to a call, and a receipt shows that she paid for the pedicure.
Speaking outside the courtroom, Tacopina said, "This case is quite frankly a joke."12/04/2005 21:19
