Fans Mourn Lennon 25 Years On
Fans of late BEATLE JOHN LENNON are today (8DEC05) marking the 25th anniversary of his murder.
The singer was shot dead outside his New York City apartment block by MARK DAVID CHAPMAN on 8 December 1980.
Special concerts performed at London's Abbey Road Studio and a studio in New York - featuring performances by JAMIE CULLUM, LULU, DR JOHN and DARYL HALL - will be played simultaneously on BBC Radio 2 and Sirius Satellite Radio in the US.
Fans will also gather at Strawberry Fields in Central Park New York, which is close to the scene of Lennon's murder, and has been dedicated to him.
In Lennon's hometown of Liverpool, white balloons will be released at 12pm (GMT) and images will be projected onto the George's Dock building.
A civic service to celebrate Lennon's life will be held at Our Lady and St Nicholas Parish Church in Liverpool at 3pm (GMT).
Chapman is currently serving 20 years-to-life in a New York prison for Lennon's murder.
