FAHRENHEIT 9/11 and ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND failed to win the Best Non-European Film at the EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS last night (11DEC04), losing out to


The joint French and Chinese production, directed by WONG KAR-WAI, beat its famous American counterparts to win the top accolade at the ceremony in Barcelona, Spain.

Other winners at the 16-year-old event included British star IMELDA STAUNTON, who won Best Actress for her role in abortion movie VERA DRAKE and JAVIER BARDEM, who won Best Actor for MAR ADENTRO (THE SEA INSIDE).
