Ex-Beatles At Harrison Film Tribute
The two surviving members of the BEATLES joined guests and family at the first screening of a documentary honouring their late bandmate GEORGE HARRISON.
SIR PAUL McCARTNEY, his wife HEATHER MILLS and RINGO STARR joined Harrison's widow OLIVIA and JOHN LENNON's widow YOKO ONO at the event in California last night (24SEP03).
The screening was of a documentary filmed at the star-studded CONCERT FOR GEORGE tribute held at London's ROYAL ALBERT HALL last year (02).
The show includes performances by Sir Paul and Starr as well as TOM PETTY, JEFF LYNNE, BILLY PRESTON and members of the MONTY PYTHON comedy team.
ERIC CLAPTON, who also attended last night's premiere, was the musical director of Concert for George, which was attended by 5,000 people, while classical Indian musician RAVI SHANKAR, a close friend of Harrison's, composed part of the show.
The documentary was a great success, with Olivia proclaiming, "The Concert for George was all I hoped it would be. The glue that held it all together was our love for George."
Harrison died in Los Angeles in 2001 after losing his fight against cancer.
Olivia and their son DHANI are donating the film's takings to the MATERIAL WORLD CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, established by the guitarist in 1973.25/09/2003 17:19
