Evans Takes A Break

Fatigued British comic LEE EVANS is taking the advice of MEL BROOKS and is planning a break from acting.

The THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY star has just endured a gruelling stint in the London stage version of Brooks' hit musical THE PRODUCERS, and admits the veteran writer encouraged him to be more assertive over his commitments.

And now he is determined to make sure he spends time with his wife HEATHER and their 11-year-old daughter MOLLY.

Lee says, "I'm p**sed off with working for other people. Mel Brooks spelt it out to me.

"When we were together on The Producers, he told me I had to stop saying yes to everything. I had to go for more control over what I do."
