Eszterhas Shoots Anti-Smoking Ads

Screenwriter JOE ESZTERHAS has shot three anti-smoking commercials in a bid to urge young movie stars to stub out their habits.

The BASIC INSTINCT writer was a chain smoker but quit after being diagnosed with throat cancer, and now he has become a firm anti-smoking campaigner.

In the past he has lashed out at his peers for including unnecessary smoking scenes in their movies.

The new 30-second ads started airing in America earlier this week (beg17NOV03).

Eszterhas will also host a weekly show on the WEBMD medical website, beginning in January (04).
