Eric B And Rakim Claim Top Hip-Hop Album In New Poll

ERIC B and RAKIM's classic PAID IN FULL album has been hailed the greatest ever hip-hop album in US magazine ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY.

Marking the 25th anniversary of the birth of mainstream rap, the magazine gave the 1987 album the top spot ahead of DE LA SOUL's 3 FEET HIGH + RISING and READY TO DIE by NOTORIOUS BIG.

The top 10 also features classic albums by WU-TANG CLAN, DR DRE and A TRIBE CALLED QUEST.

The top 10 in full is:

1. PAID IN FULL - ERIC B + RAKIM

2. 3 FEET HIGH + RISING - DE LA SOUL

3. READY TO DIE - NOTORIOUS BIG

4. FEAR OF A BLACK PLANET - PUBLIC ENEMY

7. ENTER THE WU-TANG (36 CHAMBERS) - WU-TANG CLAN

8. ILLMATIC - NAS

9. THE LOW END THEORY - A TRIBE CALLED QUEST
