Electric Six Pull .nuclear. Single
Rockers Electric Six have became the latest band to bow to the
sensitivities of war - they've pulled the release of their next single GAY BAR
and debut album Fire "due to the current situation in Iraq".
Gay Bar, which had been due for release in early May (03), features a
reference to nuclear war.
The Detroit, America quintet's label XL had prepared alternative edits,
but the band decided they didn't work. They are now re-recording the track with
an alternative verse.
A statement from the DANGER! HIGH VOLTAGE hitmakers says, "Having rejected
an edit of the track done by the label and, although understanding the
sensitivity required in the current climate, are rightly only willing to make a
compromise on
their terms.
"As a result, all copies of the unapproved edit have now been withdrawn
and the band are recording a new version (with a replacement verse) this week
in Detroit.
"The new version will become both the new radio and video edit but
unfortunately means that both release dates will have to change."
The band are currently in the midst of an American tour.
