East Asian Stars Sing For Tsunami Victims
Over 150 singers from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan joined forces on Friday (07JAN05) to raise money for victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami in a charity concert.
The huge line-up at the Crossing Borders gig in Hong Kong Stadium, included pop idols Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, COCO LEE and Cecilia Cheung and Hollywood star and tsunami survivor Jet Li.
Li and his family were holidaying in the Maldives when the tidal wave hit last month (26DEC04). They managed to escape serious injury.
Organisers of Friday's concert claim they had raised HK$19 million ($2.4 million/GBP1.2 million) from tickets sales of the gig, which was watched by 10,000 people on 40 television stations across the world.
