Dylan Goes To The Ball Game For Birthday Show

BOB DYLAN came clean about his secret love for baseball on his 65th birthday radio show yesterday (24MAY06) when he dedicated an hour to the sport and even belted out an a cappella version of gametime anthem TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME. The folk rock icon decided to pay tribute to baseball on his weekly THEME TIME RADIO HOUR show on the XM Satellite Radio network, where he picks and plays tunes related to a similar theme. After crooning Take Me Out... at the beginning of yesterday's quirky show, which fell on Dylan's 65th birthday, the part-time DJ mixed his favourite radio commentaries from classic baseball matches with songs like JOHN FOGERTY's CENTERFIELD and BILLY BRAGG and WILCO's rendition of JOE DiMAGGIO DONE IT AGAIN. He also showed off his dry humour by quipping, "If diamonds are a girl's best friend, why do so many girls get mad when you want to go to the ballpark?" (the game is played on a diamond-shaped pitch). Past Theme Time Radio Hour shows have been built around Mother's Day and weather themes.
