Duncan Stripped And Soaked Himself For Movie Role

MICHAEL CLARKE DUNCAN was so desperate to land his role in new movie THE ISLAND, he ripped off his tank top and doused himself in water during his audition.

The Hollywood actor, who appears in the film alongside EWAN McGREGOR and SCARLETT JOHANSSON, was willing to go to great lengths to stand out in his audition - and it worked.

He says, "I went to audition and VING RHAMES was there. I was actually terrified to walk in there 'cause I had seen these guys act before and somebody had told me that when JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME went into an audition he kicked the light bulb out the ceiling.

"So I was thinking, 'You gotta do something (to distinguish yourself) from everybody else.' So I go in there and I rip my tank top off and I take a bottle of water and I just pour it all over me. Don't ask me why. I don't know to this day...

"I did that and I started saying my lines and crying and everything. I think at the end of the day they went home and said, 'What about that big black guy that poured the water on his head? That was kinda cool.' It worked, I got the job."
