Dr Seuss Gets Star Of Walk Of Fame
Popular children's author THEODOR 'DR SEUSS' GEISEL was honoured posthumously with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday (11MAR04).
The honour was part of celebrations this month (MAR04) honouring the 100th anniversary of Geisel's birthday. His 82-year-old widow, AUDREY, looked on as children in striped hats - like the one worn by THE CAT IN THE HAT - applauded.
She said, "I think if Ted saw this he would have said, 'Thank God I am dead!' He was a very private man."
The children were treated to a reading of the Cat in the Hat by several child actors, including 11-year-old SPENCER BRESLIN, who co-starred in the live-action version of the Dr Seuss story.
Geisel died after a battle with jaw cancer in 1991.12/03/2004 19:15
