Doug And The Slugs Frontman Dies

Canadian rocker DOUG BENNETT has died in a Calgary hospital from an undisclosed illness. He was 53.

The DOUG AND THE SLUGS frontman was admitted to the city's Foothills Hospital on 9 October (04) and fell into a coma shortly after. He spent a week on life support until he passed away on Saturday (16OCT04).

The MAKING IT WORK hitmaker formed the band in 1977 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and had a string of hits over the '80s and '90s.

The multi-JUNO award winner also wrote, directed and produced music videos for stars TROOPER, HEADPINS, ZAPPACOSTA, IMAGES IN VOGUE and SUZANNE GITZI.
