Doors Mourn Manager's Death
Members of THE DOORS have been left devastated after their manager died from lung cancer on Wednesday (05JAN05) in Los Angeles.
DANNY SUGERMAN, who was 50, first became involved with the LIGHT MY FIRE band at the age of 14, before managing them after singer JIM MORRISON passed away in 1971.
Drummer JOHN DENSMORE says, "Danny was the number one Doors fan of the world. I told him no-one loved Jim as much as he did."
Keyboardist RAY MANZAREK adds, "Danny is standing side-by-side with his great friend, Jim Morrison, and the two of them will now be laughing together into eternity."
Sugerman began his long association with The Doors by answering the band's fan mail during their 60s prime. He later co-wrote Doors biography NO ONE HERE GET'S OUT ALIVE with journalist JERRY HOPKINS and served as technical advisor on OLIVER STONE's 1991 movie THE DOORS.
Densmore and Manzarek are currently touring as THE DOORS OF THE 21ST CENTURY with ex-CULT singer IAN ASTBURY.07/01/2005 14:21
