Doherty Attacks Barat In New Song
Troubled LIBERTINES rocker PETE DOHERTY has sparked fears his hiatus from the band is permanent - by blasting his bandmate CARL BARAT in a new song.
The charismatic frontman - who was kicked out of the British group after failing to beat his addiction to heroin and crack cocaine - has recorded a scathing tune with his side-project BABYSHAMBLES, in which he attacks Barat and Libertines manager ALAN McGEE.
A studio recording of GANG OF GIN has appeared online and features the lyrics: "I'll tell you my story/The treachery, it bores me/Carl and McGee both promised me/It would not happen this way/Carl is kept sedated/The frontman elevated."
Later in the song, Doherty extends his anguish at the music industry, singing: "In this industry of fools/Musclemen and ghouls/If you're not a puppet or a muppet/Then you might as well call it a day."13/09/2004 21:41
