Dixie Chicks Still Fighting Bush On New Album

10 March 2006
Country trio the Dixie Chicks are planning to re-ignite their feud with US President George W Bush in a provocative new song. The group sparked controversy when singer Natalie Maines publicly criticised Bush during a concert in London in 2003 - and fans staged bonfires, where they burned CDs and merchandise after calling the girls traitors. That led to Maines sobbing during an apologetic interview on US TV. But the feisty singer remains defiant and has penned new tune NOT READY TO MAKE NICE, which addresses the controversy surrounding her concert comments. Maines teamed up with former Semisonic frontman Dan Wilson to write the song, which begins, "Forgive, sounds good/Forget, I'm not sure I could/They say time heals everything/But I'm still waiting." The provocative track will appear on the Dixie Chicks' upcoming album TAKING THE LONG WAY HOME, which was produced by Rick Rubin and features guest appearances from Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Mike Campbell. The album also features the song I HOPE, which the Dixie Chicks wrote with blues star KEB' MO' as a tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina last year (05).

After reading this entire thread it appears that The Dixie Chicks got the last laugh by winning at the Grammys so they don't really care if they're kicked out of Nashville and Country Music since they have crossed over to main stream and are now more widely listened to than they ever would have been if they only stuck to Country.

Capt whoever of Florida, your the idiot. President Bush didn't send the troops to Iraq. a unanimous vote of Congress did! The Dixie Chick can puplicly denounce anyone they want on our soil, but they should stand behind everything American right or wrong when on foreign soil!

The Dixie Chicks have the right to say and sing what they wish, just as we have the right to not buy or listen to it. I think it is sad that everyone doesn't get behind the president. They all make decisions that aren't going to please everyone. But as Americans we should support our government. I realize though that is a pipe dream. Had Kerry won I would have supported him as well. He would have made decisions that not everyone would have liked too. I think this hype of what happened is just what it is. Hype! and soldiers died for it to be able to go on. Not only is it hype but it is childish as well. I hope the dixie chicks will grow up some day and get over it. So they don't like Bush. Big Deal. Name me any president and you will have people who have disagreed with him. Where the Dixie Chicks will see the result of how they have behaved since learning that the public didn't appreciate their comments and actions since that day is in record and ticket sales. Because they can believe how they wish but most people don't want it shoved down their throats.
