Bjork's wayward behaviour angered director Lars Von Trier when she failed to turn up to rehearsals for his 2000 film Dancer in the Dark, according to her co-star Catherine Deneuve.

Deneuve claims the Icelandic singer didn't arrived one day, while the following day she showed up three hours late without apologising, and only then after her agent had negotiated her final fee for appearing in the movie.

Legendary French actress Deneuve recalls Von Trier being "worried, hurt and sickened" by Bjork's behaviour, while Deneuve herself felt "discouraged".

When Deneuve - who recalls the incident in her new book CLOSE UP AND PERSONAL - offered to explain the seriousness of the situation to Bjork, she says her response was to ask how much it would cost to break the contract.

Deneuve goes on to describe Bjork as "wild and unique, irrational and unmanageable. There's no point in expecting logical behaviour from her. You have to accept her as she is."
