Del Toro Loved Putting Cigarette Out On Arm
OSCAR-nominated BENICIO DEL TORO was once so immersed in a role he stubbed out a cigarette on his arm - and enjoyed the pain.
The 21 GRAMS actor indulged in the spot of method acting madness during the making of 1998's FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS.
Del Toro, who lost out on the Best Supporting Actor award at Sunday's (29FEB04) ACADEMY AWARDS to TIM ROBBINS in MYSTIC RIVER, says, "When you put out a cigarette on your flesh, there is intense pain for three seconds.
"I liked the sizzle because it was shocking. I liked that pain."
Director TERRY GILLIAM ended up moving the scene from the final cut of the movie.02/03/2004 17:43
