De Niro Tops Greatest Actor Poll

Hollywood star Robert De Niro has been voted the greatest living actor, beating out competition from his Heat co-star Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson.

De Niro, the star of classics including THE GODFATHER PART II, Taxi DRIVER, Raging Bull and Goodfellas, topped the poll by readers of British magazine Empire.

THE GODFATHER star Pacino came in second place, while Chinatown legend Nicholson was placed third and COOL HAND LUKE veteran Paul Newman came fourth.

The poll was conducted before Marlon Brando died in July (04), which explains his position as fifth greatest actor alive. The results have only just been published.

ALIEN star Sigourney Weaver is the sole woman in the male-dominated top 10 greatest living actors, which are as follows:
