De Niro Scares Up A Box Office Champ
ROBERT DE NIRO and DAKOTA FANNING's new horror movie HIDE + SEEK scared up $22 million (GBP11.6 million) at the US box office in its first weekend (28-30JAN05) on release to claim the top spot on the new chart.
The scary film, which sees De Niro and Fanning playing father and daughter topple last week's (21-23JAN05) number one movie, ICE CUBE's ARE WE THERE YET?
Meanwhile, the pre-OSCAR buzz about CLINT EASTWOOD's acclaimed boxing drama MILLION DOLLAR BABY has given that film a boost - it rises to number three on the new chart from number 12 with an impressive $11.8 million (GBP6.21 million) take.
Sleeper hit SIDEWAYS also benefited from the Oscar buzz - a healthy $6.3 million (GBP3.3 million) take propels the wine drinking comedy back into the top 10 and gives it a total gross of $40 million (GBP21 million).31/01/2005 02:33
