Darkness Win Ivor Novello
British glam rockers THE DARKNESS have been honoured with the prestigious Songwriter Of The Year award at this year's (04) IVOR NOVELLOS.
The I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE foursome picked up their gong at the 49th awards for songwriters and composers in London earlier tonight (27MAY04).
Delighted lead singer JUSTIN HAWKINS dedicated the award to "songwriters everywhere".
Hawkins joked, "It's a great award, it's the heaviest. This is the biggest award you can get if you write your own songs.
"We have always wanted something like this but didn't expect to be in this position now. Now we've got here we're not going to let it go."
Other winners at the prestigious event include jazz newcomer AMY WINEHOUSE for Best Contemporary Song, DIDO for International Hit Of The Year and RADIOHEAD picked up International Achievement.

Best-selling UK single: MAD WORLD - MICHAEL ANDREWS FEAT. GARY JULES. Written by ROLAND ORZABAL.
