Daltrey And Townshend's Ongoing Feud
THE WHO frontman ROGER DALTREY insists any onstage camaraderie between himself and guitarist PETE TOWNSHEND is all for show - as in reality they can't bear the sight of each other. The two surviving members of the SUBSTITUTE band have always shared a stormy relationship: their feud often erupted into punch-ups during their 1960s heyday. But Daltrey insists their classic edginess would be ruined if they patched things up, and is quite happy for the ongoing tension to continue. Daltrey says, "I spend no time with him outside of music. None. "We're incredibly volatile and God forbid we should ever clear that up. "It would be disaster. We'd lose the tension. It would be like boring if he started liking me."
