Da Vinci Code Pulls In The Portuguese Public
THE DA VINCI CODE has broken box office records in Portugal, despite that country's largely Roman Catholic population. The controversial film, based on the novel by DAN BROWN, took more than one million euros ($380,000/GBP684,000) in its first four days. Christians worldwide have been angered by the film's claim that JESUS CHRIST fathered children with MARY MAGDALENE. Last week (ends19MAY06) film censors in India agreed to insert a disclaimer saying the film was of a "fictitious nature".
