Cuban Stars Denied Visas For Grammys
A host of Cuban musicians nominated at this year's GRAMMY AWARDS have been refused visas to attend the American ceremony this weekend (08FEB04).
BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB star IBRAHIM FERRER, percussionist AMADITO VALDES, veteran guitarist MANUEL GALVAN, and singer BARBARITO TORRES received letters from the US INTERESTS SECTION in Havana, denying their visa requests and citing Section 212f of US Immigration and Naturalization Law.
The clause states that the American president can deny US entry to foreigners when their coming to the country is deemed "detrimental to the interests of the United States".
