Cruz Digs Deep To Play Rape Victim

Spanish stunner Penelope Cruz is out to prove she's more than a pretty face when she plays a filthy down and out in new Italian movie NON TI MUOVERE (DON'T MOVE).

The actress will be almost unrecognisable as an incest rape victim at war with the world.

She says, "I couldn't look worse, but that's what my character needs, so I'm happy to give it to her.

"I cried when I read the book. It's based on a bestseller. My character represents misery. She's one of those people who you maybe find in the street, that you would not stop to look at.

"This woman is very poor, she doesn't even have money to go to the doctor or a dentist. She has nobody, no family, nobody in her life.

"She's somebody who has been raped by her father since she was twelve. So she's like a damaged animal, who makes a lot of wrong choices for herself. She doesn't feel she deserves to be loved because she doesn't know what normal love is. It really broke my heart when I read it."
